Hello, my name is Trev Batstone. At the young age of 65, I decided to take up the hobby of making woodcrafts, particularly items created with the scroll saw. My workshop power tools include a table saw, circular saw, jigsaw, belt sander, a combination belt & disc sander, drum sander, Oscillating sander, portable planer, a 12" thickness planer, bandsaw, air compressor & brad nailer, router and router table, Dremel tools and accessories, , drill press, and of course, my scroll saw. I enjoy this woodcraft hobby so much that I thought I would create this blog to display my created projects and post comments about the scrolling and woodcraft hobby. I hope you enjoy your time here, and thanks for stopping by.

Superstars In Concert LIVE

(New Westminster, BC. June 02, 2007)

The Royal City Star Riverboat Casino played host to a superb concert presented by Sonic Flower Entertainment, as four very talented tribute artists performed live on stage in the Showboat Lounge.. Royal City Star is a 100-year old Mississippi paddlewheeler that was brought to the city of New Westminster several years ago, and has been transformed into a floating casino. It is now permanently docked in the downtown harbour of New Westminster on the mighty Fraser River, the longest river in British Columbia. This floating casino is not only a favourite stopping point for tourists, but also the locals who frequent the venue to not only try their luck at the slots or tables, but to enjoy a leisurely meal in the dining room, or to take in the views of river traffic from its various decks.

Superstars In Concert LIVE unfolded on schedule at 7:30 P.M. as Elvis Presley (Elviswithin) was escorted onto the stage by the lovely Stardust Dancing Girls. Jack Overbury (Elviswithin) got the full-house crowd motivated right from the 'get-go' with his Elvis-like vocals, singing the legend's all-time favourites, including "Little Sister Don't You Cry" and "Blue Hawaii". Elviswithin always interacts with his audience, and this evening was no exception as he mingled with his guests, distributing some 'leigh' to a few lucky ladies and giving them a kiss on the cheek. Elvis also melted the hearts of the women in the audience as he walked past the tables of spectators singing "Are You Lonesome Tonight?". Jack has always been very appreciative of his fans, and always thanks them for attending (all his gigs).

Next, it was Marilyn Monroe that took the spotlight, reminding the crowd that "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend". Attired in a beautiful, full-length, pink satin strapless dress, with her diamond necklace and other diamond-related jewelry glistening in the stage lights, she entertained a very attentive audience, with her smooth flawless skin of a pale complexion, blond hair, and bright red lipstick capturing the attention of at least all the men in the house. As we all know, Marilyn Monroe was more of an actress than a singer, but our Marilyn this evening sang several songs depicting the life and times of the famous Monroe, She also managed to find a gentleman in the audience who was celebrating his 50th birthday, pulled him up onto stage and sat him on a chair while she sang "Happy Birthday" to him, and then sat on his lap as she was ending the song and asked him if that was a big fat wallet that she could feel in his pants.

Then it was time for Johnny Cash to make his appearance with his guitar slung over his backside in the traditional style of the famous legend. Johnny reminded the audience of "Folsom Prison Blues" right from the start, followed by "Sunday Mornin' Coming Down". Some myths and true stories were related to the fans about the real Johnny Cash, and then this talented tribute artist sauntered around the tables, shaking hands with his guests as he continued singing more songs from the living legend of the famous country star. A lady in the audience was recognized by the the artist, who had done a 'gig' in her home town over 300 miles away, just a week previous to tonight's performance, as she had travelled to be here this evening to see and hear him again. An amazing look-alike, as well as a true-to-life voice of the real Johnny Cash, this tribute artist easily gained the admiration of everyone present.

Last, but certainly not least, CHER blazened the stage spotlight, her vocals reaching almost immeasureable heights as she blared out "When Will I Be Loved?". She got the crowd rocking and even some dancing as she pumped out CHER's hit songs, as she become surrounded in a haze of smoke with colourful stage lights highlighting her image. The second portion of her act saw her in much less attire, as she removed her black leather pants and jacket, revealing her spiked-heel boots, fishnet stockings and black thongs, and a see-through black top as she continued entertaining the audience with CHER's greatest hits. This tall, slim tribute artist was another favourite of the evening, as she pranced back and forth along the stage, singing and entertaining in a true life-like CHER manner.

The venue of a historic paddlewheeler was a perfect setting for an enjoyable evening of entertainment by great tribute artists who relish in paying tribute to their favourite stars from the past. With 30-degree Celcius temperatures outdoors, and ice-cold beverages indoors, a fun-filled and memorable evening was enjoyed by all.
