Hello, my name is Trev Batstone. At the young age of 65, I decided to take up the hobby of making woodcrafts, particularly items created with the scroll saw. My workshop power tools include a table saw, circular saw, jigsaw, belt sander, a combination belt & disc sander, drum sander, Oscillating sander, portable planer, a 12" thickness planer, bandsaw, air compressor & brad nailer, router and router table, Dremel tools and accessories, , drill press, and of course, my scroll saw. I enjoy this woodcraft hobby so much that I thought I would create this blog to display my created projects and post comments about the scrolling and woodcraft hobby. I hope you enjoy your time here, and thanks for stopping by.

EAT-Vancouver Food Festival

Vancouver, BC. May 25-27th, 2007
EAT! Vancouver, The Everything Food + Cooking Festival offered visitors an opportunity to taste and discuss thousands of food and beverage products offered by nearly two hundred exhibitors. Healthy living and balanced eating choices were the key features of this year's EAT! Vancouver Festival.

Television personality and author, Rose Reisman presented her Art of eating and living well at the Teresen Gas Eating for Energy Stage. Rose offered practical, current advice on nutritional requirements, how to maintain heart health, how to eat well when you're run off your feet, how to shop "light" at the grocery store, how to put together a "light" kitchen, techniques for eating right at restaurants and fast food outlets, and all the latest facts about diets. She can turn around your eating habits and set you on the path to healthy living. Joining Rose to demonstrate a new, healthy Asian approach to cooking and eating, direct from Malaysia, was Chef Wan, host of the Asian Food Network Television.
Mairlyn Smith, one of Canada's foremost nutritional experts conducted continuous presentations and cooking demonstrations on the Weber Cooking Stage. Mairlyn has written a revolutionary yet commonsense book; The Ultimate Healthy Eating Plan that demystifies the path to eating for health and energy. Aimed at female baby boomers, this compilation of manageable tips and recipes is based on scientific evidence and features easy recipes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less using accessible ingredients.

A designated separate area on the Main Exhibit Floor, Pets EAT! Too featured food, nutrition and health products from twenty-five exhibitors for the world of pets. Visitors have been coming to EAT! Vancouver to search for new ideas and sources for food and nutrition, now they may search for those products and services for their pets as well.
Celebrity chefs, popular local restaurants, wineries, food and beverage manufacturers, cookbook authors, retailers, artisans, and many others from the culinary world came together once again for a three day, public extravaganza at BC Place Stadium.

CityTV's Master Chef Competition-Seventeen chefs from all over the Lower Mainland battled it out in an Iron Chef competition. CityTV's co-host of Breakfast Television and host of CityCooks, Simi Sara joined Master Of Ceremonies David McIlwraith of Dudson China to co-host the numerous heated competitions.
Black Box cooking competitions are considered the most challenging of culinary competitions because the food content of the boxes is not revealed prior to the event. The pressure of competing is compounded by the unknown ingredients. The chef has to accept the challenge of devising a main course from the Black Box by using the foods the box contains. Once open, it's up to the chef's creative talents to come up with an innovative idea and prepare it in the 35 minute time alloted on the hi-end commercial Raven Ranges.
Competitors were judged by culinary professionals on composition, creativity, correct preparations, service practicality, taste, proper utilization of ingredients, presentation and consistency.
